It is time to get ready for better weather and fishing! Capt. Rick Worman did a fantastic job at our January general meeting educating us about his favorite flies and his favorite fish native to the Indian River Lagoon. We had a good turnout for Rick. This month we are pleased to have Capt. Jim Ross who is another one of our favorite presenters. We expect an even bigger crowd for Capt. Ross so arrive early to secure a seat. For those who do not know Capt. Jim Ross he operates Fineline Fishing Charters in Rockledge. He has been fishing the IRL for over twenty years. He is popular on the radio and you likely have heard his Catch A Memory Outdoors broadcast or seen or heard him on the television show Florida Insider Fishing Report. Capt. Ross will get you ready for the spring and summer fishing season! One of our association’s primary goals in 2019 is to increase membership. Unfortunately we have several current members that have yet to pay their dues. Your board works very hard to plan activities. We cannot do this without a budget! Please pay your dues or we will have to remove you from the membership roster and limit your access to our website. Keith Braun gave an informative workshop on how to access the website. The website is improving almost every day. We hope to have the ability to let every member post photos and updates soon. We are already using “surveys” to enable members to sign up for activities. Knowing who will participate in an activity gives us an opportunity to plan better and to assist other members who would like to participate but need to share a ride or boat. Check out the website and see what’s new for members only. Speaking of activities… The end of April south Florida canal fishing trip is almost here. Be sure to let the board know if you want to attend. We are doing our best to pair up fishing buddies with boat owners if you need a ride or someone to fish with. The hotel has a blocked out ten rooms for us. To our surprise David Harbor and I were able to get a better rate by booking online at LaQuinta’s website and using AAA or AARP. Book your room at the LaQuinta Plantation hotel located at 7901 SW 6th Street, Plantation, FL. More on this to come!
