SUMMARY:Guest Speaker: Leiza Fitzgerald "CCA"
DESCRIPTION:Captain Leiza grew up in Key West and in the woods of Moss Bluff\, Florida. Her passion for fishing\, hunting and conservation was learned from her father. A degree in Marketing has allowed Leiza to combine her passions with work for over 25 years in the outdoor industry before joining Coastal Conservation Association in 2014 as the Director of STAR\, CCA’s highest profile event and Florida’s largest fishing competition. Her career with CCA allows Leiza to promote the conservation of our marine resources and being good stewards of those resources while still giving her a little time to combine her skills of hunting with fishing so that she may stalk the flats\, oyster bars or any body of saltwater to sight cast whatever species of fish is biting and still call it work.

SUMMARY:FWC Officer Chad Weber
DESCRIPTION:Officer Weber is the spokesman and public relations officer for 11 counties. He says his desire to work for FWC started at an early age when he saw some officers and thought that it would be an interesting job. When he got out of the Marines\, he applied to FWC knowing that it would be an appealing job since he loves the outdoors\, boats\, and water. He figured he would get the best of everything being in law enforcement\, helping people\, and helping animals in an environment he loves. Officer Weber lists as some of his most unforgettable career moments as being on the Deep Water Horizon response team as well as various hurricane response details.

SUMMARY:Guest Speaker:Zach Marchetti
DESCRIPTION:For our May program speaker we are privleged to have Zach Marchetti\, Curator of Donor Engagement and Animal Experiences at Brevard Zoo in Melbourne. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nZach grew up in a small town in mid-coast Maine where he learned to fly fish from his dad who ran a bamboo fly rod restoration and production shop out of their home. Zach developed a love for nature which took him from college in Minnesota to the rainforests of Ecuador where he lived for two years doing field research working on a management plan for a wildlife reserve. \n\n\n\nAfter realizing that he liked talking about science more than doing science\, Zach began his zoo career as a reptile keeper and educator at a small zoo in central Pennsylvania. Over the last fifteen years\, he has worked his way through the zoo field in a variety of capacities.  \n\n\n\nCurrently he is the Curator of Donor Engagement and Animal Experiences at Brevard Zoo in Melbourne\, Florida\, where he lives with his wife Brigette\, six-year-old son Theron\, a golden retriever and three dachshunds. He spends most of his time either in meetings\, or getting people excited about conservation work; and occasionally\, every once in a while\, he gets to go fishing…… We can change this last part and invite him on a fishing trip with us.

SUMMARY:Guest Speaker Capt. Alan Ryland
DESCRIPTION:The February club meeting will be held on Tuesday February 22nd at Kay’s BBQ. As usual dinner is at 6:00 PM and the meeting begins at 7:00 PM. Come early and enjoy good friends and good food before the meeting starts. Our speaker this month is Captain Alan Ryland\, Captain Ryland is originally from Ft Lauderdale and he has lived his entire life in the State of Florida. His passion second only to his family is the sport of inshore angling\, especially on fly gear. Fishing for him started at an early age in the canals and retention ponds of South Florida. Eventually this grew to include the back county waters surrounding the Florida Keys because most of his family resided and boated/fished that area. Throughout his youth he was fortunate to have a family whose whole life revolved around water and fishing.
